Internet Radio Stations

Listening to the radio is a common thing that many people do on a day-to-day basis. Radio offers a medium to listen to not only music, but also the news and weather, information that may be in the public interest, travel updates and even soaps, are just to name a few. Recently, radio stations have expanded onto the internet, making it possible for listeners to tune in via the web from all over the globe. It will usually involve streaming from a media player that the listener will have installed on his or her computer. It is a great way to listen to one’s favourite shows whilst abroad, whether this is due to being on holiday, away to study or even for works purposes. It is also ideal to simply reach a wider audience, and perfect for those who may not have access to a radio, but still want to tune in.

The internet also allows listeners access to DAB digital radio shows. To listen to these shows through means of a standard radio would require a DAB digital radio. The internet allows listeners to listen in without having to purchase a separate radio, making it a very cost-effective method of listening.

Radio stations will vary in genre, and this newer form of wider availability means that listeners who may not have been able to listen to their genre of music or programme before, now has access to it, even if the show is airing from a different country. This is also a good opportunity and good publicity for artists who may wish to expand internationally to have their music heard on the internet when it is playing on local or national radio stations.
